Borrowed Time
03:55
|

It's just that I always thought that all that shines must be gold.
Building a shrine to nothing and buying everything that was sold.
So now we're locked and loaded, but worse for wear as we grow old.
My water won't turn into wine
Still living on Borrowed Time
Pulling the shade on this day. I'm waiting for a new one to show.
Playing by rules unwritten and guessing what they are as I go.
Someone pull the panic switch.
It's getting to that point baby, I know.
My water won't turn into wine
Still living on Borrowed Time
You've got all the time left in the world.
Smooth enough to slip in and out of the swirl.
Careless, don't I know, with every last boy and girl.
My water won't turn into wine
Still living on Borrowed Time
It's all I know, focused and right
I'll ebb and flow, if only to ride.

It's a lot like sleeping, only that you're wide awake.
And it's just like leaving, except there's no escape.
And no I won't apologize for never feeling like it's said its ideal.
And yes I know, I realize there's something to be said for keeping it real.
We're not fast asleep at all.
We're wide awake and we've been for days.
And we're not down by any stretch of the imagination.
It's a lot like dreaming, only it's reality.
And so much like bleeding but the cuts won't heal eventually.
And still I won't apologize.
I can't be on your side and I don't need to fit.
Yes I know, I realize there's one road in and out of here and I'm not on it.
We're not fast asleep at all.
We're wide awake and we've been for days.
And we're not down by any stretch of the imagination.

A Flag to Fly
02:53
|
|||
Been asking questions as of late
Like 'who are you?' and 'who am I?'
And 'who are we to take goodbye and give it its own holiday?'
I'm climbing up the walls at my own pace
Been on and on about the same
Maybe you're right about it I've never been the one to try.
I'm tired and ready for the end of the day
Still here and I'm wondering why
What became of the long goodbye?
Last ditch attempt to sew us a flag to fly
You're narrowly making escapes
It's coming down to how and why
Another change to get it right
I'm tired and ready for the end of the day
It's that face that only you can make
The one you're making as you walk away
Still here and I'm wondering why
What became of the long goodbye?
Last ditch attempt to sew us a flag to fly

Daylights
04:06
|
|||
I've been had. Not the first or last time.
It's cliche how we just go back for me.
It's ok, I'm a real good liar.
The only lying I'm doin is on the floor.
I've never been afraid of nothing.
But this scares the daylights outta me.
I'm counting on a little something.
That's almost crazy enough to believe.
Lies awake and counts the hours.
All the more refined to make a go.
A culmination of the love you made
And all the love that's only there for show.
I've never been afraid of nothing.
But this scares the daylights outta me.
I'm counting on a little something.
That's almost crazy enough to believe.
Grabbing hands on the way down.
Man I made a monkey outta me.
See those hands reaching way out.
But a high five baby, aint what I need.

The Good Fight
03:34
|

And stole my time away from me.
Then stole my eyes so I can't see
What is and what's gotta be.
These boots were made to walk me away from me.
I've been waiting to long. Fighting the good fight.
Just to watch it passing me by.
Might be time to move on, abandon rewind.
Go forward to find better times.
There's none I know, at least not this side of paradise.
And when I'm gone, they'll exaggerate the stories of my life.
And sure as the sun hangs in the sky
I'm doin more with mine than just getting by.
I've been facing front this whole time.
Because I'm tired of pushin rewind.
I've been waiting to long. Fighting the good fight.
Just to watch it passing me by.
Might be time to move on, abandon rewind.
Go forward to find better times.
There's none I know, at least not this side of paradise.
And when I'm gone, they'll exaggerate the stories of my life.
Fault lines in real life. Landslide to new times.
