about

Jill Laura Creedon was 25 years old when she died from a disease called hemangioendothelioma in July of 2005.
I met her about 2 years earlier. Rarely do you meet someone as happy and optimistic as she was. I'd known her for a month or so and had already been amazed at her unfailing ability to find a silver lining in everything. She could put a positive spin on just about anything and had a way of rubbing it off onto whomever she was around. Not long after, she told me that she'd been fighting blood-related and liver diseases all her life. She told me that she'd spent countless months in and out of hospitals growing up and had even had a few scares w/ cancer.

But she'd prevailed. And she'd learned to appreciate life like no one I'd ever seen. She always raved about her family. When I met them I quickly saw why. Her parents, grandmother, younger brother and various family friends had grown up together with Jill and all of the bouts of her being sick throughout her life. They had become a rock-solid unit of love and support for her and for each other. It was truly amazing.
And through it all, Jill and family were always looking for the
positive side of everything.

I wrote this song as I was inspired by Jill's optimism, strength and beauty. I know that she's still watching me as I bumble through my music career...writing good songs and bad...and every now and then letting me know in some way, what she thinks.

lyrics

I never could figure out why there has to be a reason to rhyme.
When all the planets are aligned, they say all th wrong could be right.

So save your breath and save your time.
The reason doesn't always rhyme.
But the sliver lining always lines.
And from a distance, you'll be living.
They'll keep taking and we'lll keep giving you away.

What's the weather like out there?
I hear it's lovely twelve months of the year.
What's it like to watch us sleep?
Do our eyelids twitch with our bad dreams?

So save your breath and save your time.
The reason doesn't always rhyme.
But the sliver lining always lines.
And from a distance, you'll be living.
They'll keep taking and we'lll keep giving you away.

It's ok, I know there's something to be said for all this time we're spending on forever.
The things I remember the most were positively the best parts, the good things, the things that only make you smile.
Don't they make you smile?

So save your breath and save your time.
The reason doesn't always rhyme.
But the sliver lining always lines.
And from a distance, you'll be living.
They'll keep taking and we'lll keep giving you away.
